Bettering the lives of LGBT2Q+ rural youth, their families, and their communities in Elgin, Middlesex, and Oxford Counties.

Through the performance art of Drag, the Rainbow Optimist Club has produced our Drag Storytimes. The Drag Storytimes are a unique way to engage children in learning about inclusion and diversity through reading a selection of carefully curated books by our 6 Library partners: Elgin County Library, London Public Library, Middlesex County Library, Oxford County Library, St. Thomas Public Library and Woodstock Public Library.
All the Drag Storytellers goes through a 2 step vetting process. First they are asked to fill out the volunteer registration form which was created with the assistance of a former corrections officer. Once the application is accepted, they are then asked to get a Police Vulnerable Sector Check. All are current Drag Storytellers have been through this two step vetting process.
Drag Storytime has been an evolution from in-person storytimes at rural libraries,
to a virtual Drag Storytime format, now a highbred of in-person and virtual. Read more about the history of Drag Storytime here.
